Microchipping
As a breeder, I decided to take the Micro-ID training course to become a qualified microchipping practitioner. It enables me to chip my puppies from 6 weeks without the necessity of bundling them all up and off to the vets. Much less stressful for Mum, pups and me too! It also means if they happened, by some strange quirk of fate, to be stolen it might be possible to trace them.
The qualification I have allows me to chip Dogs, Cats, Rabbits and Ferrets.
There are two sizes of chip – 12mm x 2mm and 8mm x 1.4mm.
The larger chips tend to be used as standard but the smaller ones are useful for smaller breeds.
It’s a quick procedure and most pets show little response. I can come to you, or you to me. I’m happy to do visits for litters or multiple pets although there may be a surcharge for travelling if you are not on the Shotley Peninsula or one of my regular routes.

Your Legal Obligations as a Dog Owner
It became a legal requirement for all dogs in the UK to be microchipped in 2015 and from 6th April 2016, it became a legal requirement for owners to keep the details on the registration database up to date. Failure to do so will incur a fine of £500 so please do contact me if you need to get your dog chipped and I’ll fit you in at my earliest convenience.
It is also a legal requirement for a dog to wear a collar and ID tag. This must include the surname of the owner, a contact number, first line of address and postcode.
I also think it’s a good idea to have a second contact number in case the first is non-contactable.
It’s not a good idea to include your dog’s name as it makes it much easier if a thief knows the name of the dog that they are trying to steal.
